What color should I paint my front door?
I have a cedar siding home in the woods with a wrap around porch. My problem is everything is brown and boring. I do have dark green shutters, but the rest of the house is brown. I would like to paint the front door and maybe trim around the windows or porch posts.
I too, live in the woods. We painted our home a dark oak-leaf green, with cream-colored doors. I randomly painted a facing board on the eaves a dark red. Not all of them, just one side or another, here and there. I also painted an occasional edge of an eave on the barn, tree house, pump house and other out-buildings. I also installed a bird feeder with the same color scheme.
Unusual, and gets lots of positive comments.

high gloss black

paint it with white or coral white.

Red!
Red is a nice warm color, but still gives life!
I recently painted some of my room red, not too much though, because red can go into anger too.
Good luck!

Whatever color you choose you should also paint the shutters with. The door can be a different shade of the same color, maybe in a deeper tone. With the brown cedar siding you have lots of options. I think I’d paint the door a medium shade of teal like the color of this house:

And the other trim and shutters can be cream or a lighter shade of the teal.

This may sound crazy but I would try a cedar shade of green. The shutters will have to be repainted to match and doing all the trim on the house will set it off.Go to a Benjamin Moore dealer and have them pull up shades and matches for you till you find what you like. You may want to change the style door and stain a new one to match the siding, then only paint the casing.A door with the top half composed of some dark stained glass would be awesome.Good Luck!Enjoy and have fun with it!
