how can i take off window shutters?

i have vinyl colonial shutters that are faded and i want to repaint them, but i can’t figure out how to get them off.

The vinyl shutters that i am experienced with have two fastener options,
The first is a simple phillips head screw (usually not a hard grade steel and will likely break or strip when you try to remove, try with a hand held screw driver to loosen a couple turns before using a powered screw gun. If they break, take down shutter, and remove the remaining with a vice grip locking plier.

The second fastener is simply a vinyl expanding plug that can be removed with a small flat bar or an automotive bodymans ‘spoon’
Support either with a block of wood so you dont crack the shutter
Good Luck

How to decorate exterior windows, space too narrow for shutters?
